On 7 July 2022, the embassies of Monaco and Australia in Spain joined forces to organise a screening of the documentary “Alick and Albert: Badu Island to Monaco, Two Worlds, One Ocean” at the Palacio de Hielo cinema in Madrid.
The guests at this private screening, who included numerous ambassadors, representatives of Spanish businesses and institutions and Monegasque consuls, had an opportunity to view this captivating and moving documentary which chronicles the bonds of friendship and shared vision of a future world between Australian artist Alick Tipoti and H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
In her speech, H.E. Ms Catherine Fautrier-Rousseau recalled the origins of this extraordinary friendship, which began in 2016 in Monaco at the TABA NABA exhibition of Australian art by peoples of the sea, organised by the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, where Prince Albert II met Alick Tipoti.
In 2018, it was Alick Tipoti’s turn to welcome H.S.H. Prince Albert II to the island of Badu, 14,000 kilometres from Monaco, to the north of Australia, during a Monaco Explorations mission. During the reception co-organised by the two embassies, the guests were able to share their impressions of the documentary and the human and environmental values it conveys
