A Monegasque delegation led by H.E. Mr Pierre Dartout took part in the 3rd Summit of the European Political Community, held in Granada on 5 October 2023 under the Spanish Presidency. This high-level meeting, which follows on from the Prague (October 2022) and Chisinau (June 2023) summits, brought together 43 Heads of State and Government, the Presidents of the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. As with previous summits, the aim was to strengthen cohesion, cooperation and dialogue between all European countries, with a view to preserving peace and security on the continent.
The representatives had the opportunity to discuss a number of subjects of common interest, including the digital transition, artificial intelligence and current multilateral and geostrategic issues.
After the plenary session, H.E. Mr Pierre Dartout took part in a round table discussion on energy, the environment and the fight against climate change, during which he outlined the Principality's action in favour of renewable energies.
The Minister of State also took the opportunity to meet his counterparts from Andorra and San Marino, to reaffirm the ties of friendship and cooperation between the three countries.
In general terms, the summit provided an opportunity for numerous informal exchanges with leaders from across Europe, including the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, and the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir.
This high-level meeting ended with an official dinner in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain at the Alhambra Palace.
The next summit of the European Political Community will take place in the United Kingdom in the first half of 2024.
